What is Good Sort?

I (Katie) visit your home or office to work with you to declutter and reorganise your space. This involves exploring the issues, creating an achievable action plan and physically working together decluttering.

How it works

Get in touch

Pick up the phone or drop me an email, we can have a quick chat about your needs and arrange a free (optional) consultation session or just a date to get started with a sort out session.

Have a (free) consultation session

This optional session is about getting to know each other a little and coaching you towards decluttering. During this free consultation we will:

  • Meet one another at your home
  • Create decluttering and reorganising action plan (some actions will be completed before and in-between Good Sort sessions)
  • Agree how long we will work together on Good Sort sessions and sign a contract

I normally like to spend 45 minutes with you.

Book Good Sort sessions

Schedule sessions which work best for you. If you have decided that you want my support and don't want a consultation session, get in touch and we can discuss your needs and schedule our work together.

You may want sessions with me after the Good Sort sessions to reflect and talk about maintenance and difficulties.

What works best?

Here is a Good Sort process example:

  • Have a consultation session and create a plan of action
  • You undertake some tasks before Good Sort sessions begin
  • We have a number of 2-3 hour sessions that combine coaching and hands on decluttering
  • We have a follow up session to reflect on progress

Roll up your sleeves

On the day of our sort out I come to your home and we work together, this will involve physical work and reflecting on action plan progress. Getting things sorted can be hard work, but once we have tackled the space, decluttered and put in organising systems, the clutter shouldn't reappear!

Why should I have a good sort?

The first steps to an organised home & mind

Having a clutter free home helps us to have a clearer mind and happier outlook, but sometimes achieving this can be a bigger task than imagined! We can often put this task off, sometimes for years, which makes us feel stuck, frustrated and even overwhelmed by not knowing where to start!

Good Sort offers to you a supportive and therapeutic experience in decluttering and organising your home.

Life will feel easier

Once you have had a Good Sort, your home and life will become more manageable and you will be able to navigate your way around your home with ease. Of course, having a clear out isn't always the most appealing way to spend your spare time, but doing it with me will make it that bit less dull and a lot more effective.

Who is Good Sort?

About Katie

I enjoy meeting new people, building relationships, problem solving and working towards making a difference.

These personality traits, with my relentless can do attitude and empathic approach, led me down a career path of working with vulnerable young people and adults as a qualified youth worker and later qualifying as a person-centred counsellor.

I have always enjoyed the company of being with people and when I blend my skills together, I realised that working with people to be happier in their homes (which is really important) is something I can achieve.

From a very young age, I have enjoyed the satisfying feeling of re-organising and improving a living space. Of course, this isn't everyone's thing, but this business is my opportunity to do something I love.

How much does it cost?

£35 / hour
  • Sort out sessions are charged at a fixed rate.
  • Initial consultations are always free.
  • Fully insured.

A couple of questions

How long does it take?

Sort Out sessions generally last between 2 and 5 hours depending on the area to be organised.

At the beginning of a session I'll ask you how long you want to work, so we can plan, leaving enough time to clear up at the end of the session. As we get underway we will have a better sense of how long the whole decluttering and organising process will take.

What about my things?

I am there to help you decide what items you want to keep, rehouse, sell, recycle or bin. The decision of what we do with your belongings is of course ultimately yours.

Once we've sorted the clutter, it's time to organise what's left. We look at the best way to use your space. Sometimes, I may suggest rearranging furniture and materials to make a space that is best for you. Together we will make decisions on what storage is available or needed.
